My name is Jasleen Gill, and I’m eighteen years old. I’ve founded a nonprofit group called Gur Aasra USA and am very excited that you are considering joining me in my endeavors!
I grew up in India until I was twelve years of age, and during this time, developed strong ties with local orphanages and shelters through my grandma’s community work. After moving to the United States, I have continued my grandma’s work with the organizations in India and have expanded my project, eventually giving it a name: Gur Aasra USA.
My nonprofit group aims to fortify old ties back in North India by providing financial support and emotional counseling to organizations such as the ones that my grandma worked with in the past. These establishments house the underprivileged, almost all of whom are socially disadvantaged with no support from family members and are distressed by poor health with conditions such as PTSD. Additionally, we intend to better circumstances in our community here in the United States by organizing donation drives and holiday gift-giveaways with local shelters.
Please feel free to contact me at jasgill@guraasrausa.org if you would like to know about how you can become a part of our work and make it your own!
This organization provides help to underprivileged and orphaned girls. They fund full expenses through high school up till college. The name of our nonprofit group is inspired by their organization’s name as a major part of our work is supporting the total costs for two disadvantaged girls residing in Gur Aasra Trust. We talk to them over the phone often, discussing everything from their favorite colors to birthday plans. Along with sponsoring two girls, we also donate necessities such as notebooks and blankets to this organization. This is how we provide life-changing care to Gur Aasra Trust.
This organization provides a home for the mentally disadvantaged, destitute, homeless, and abandoned. They provide victims of mental and physical abuse, injuries, medical conditions with treatment, rehabilitation, and support. After the residents have been revived, the organization attempts to unite them with their loved ones. We financially support Prabh Aasra by giving out necessities such as mattress covers, grocery, and blankets.
I was raised in the city of Mohali, which borders Mataur, a village consisting of a large concentration of individuals without permanent housing facilities. We send out ambassadors and provide shelterless individuals with T-shirts, food items, and blankets for the winter. In short, we make them smile. Blessings are precious to us, especially when given by somebody whom we’ve touched by our work.
